Work with OMSE
Student employees are crucial to the functions of our office. The Wayne State University Office of Multicultural Student Engagement (OMSE) strives to cultivate a safe campus environment where we value, promote, and celebrate the identities of all students. OMSE works to positively address and impact the retention and graduation rates of underrepresented students that arrive at Wayne State University through initiatives that focus on important issues related to diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice.
The following student leader positions exist within our office:
Front Desk Assistant [APPLICATIONS OPEN]
Front Desk Assistants work to keep the day-to-day functions of the OMSE office running smoothly. Responsibilitys include, answering phone calls, assisting with paperwork and filing, greeting visitors to the office, and other office functions. If you are interested in working as a Front Desk Assistant, you can fill out an application and submit it, along with your resume, to omse@wayne.edu.
Eligibility: Applicants must have college work-study. The Federal Work Study program (FWS) provides funds for part-time employment to help needy students to finance the costs of postsecondary education.
Multicultural Student Advisory & Programming Board [APPLICATIONS OPEN]
The Multicultural Student Advisory and Programming Board will act as the bridge between OMSE and students across the Wayne State campus. The MSAPB will work to empower underrepresented groups by creating a space to highlight, acknowledge, and celebrate diversity and identities. The primary purpose of the MSAPB is to plan, market, and facilitate heritage/cultural-based and identity-based programs for OMSE.
Eligibility: Any currently enrolled undergraduate student. Applicants must have college work-study. OMSE Volunteer [APPLICATIONS OPEN]
If you are not eligible for work study or simply want to get more involved with the office, we gladly accept volunteers based on our needs. As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to become involved with the inner workings of the office and participate in multicultural programming and events.
